Smile Design

How do we create a smile design?

The aesthetics of the region formed by the teeth (white aesthetics) and the aesthetics of the region formed by the gums (pink aesthetics) are evaluated during the smile design. For this purpose, firstly, the levels of gum are photograped, and the teeth to be included in the design are assessed.

Then, the teeth-gingival-bone levels of the teeth are examined clinically and radiographically.

After this the treatment plan is completed.

Why is the evaluation of gingival aesthetics called pink aesthetics in smile design?

In all aesthetic treatments, the aim should be to achieve what is right for each person. While laughing, for example, it is important that the gums are visible and symmetrical along with as the appearance of the teeth.

At this point it is preferable to treat the gums with laser.

If only treatment of the gums is sufficient, diode laser treatment can be performed. But if a more advanced process is required, a hard tissue or combined laser device is necessary. Hard tissue lasers are preferable for post-treatment comfort.

How is the dental aesthetics, or "white aesthetics", assessed in smile design?

Porcelain laminae (leaf porcelain, composite laminae, bonding applications, smile design, tooth whitening, inlay-onlay applications, recontouring) can be carried out in order to obtain white aesthetics.

How many sessions does the smile require for completion?

The number of sessions may vary depending on the patient's current status. Treatment may be completed in a single session and sometimes in a few weeks.

Do we have to have teeth cut and covered if we want to have a smile design?

It is not always necessary to cut and cover teeth for smile design. Generally, you can achieve your aesthetic expectations with easy protective methods such as composite lamination, bonding, recontouring or teeth whitening.
